Setting Up Classrooms

Classrooms are the containers in which your students are stored in GoGuardian for Teachers. You will want to create separate classrooms for each class period that you teach, each classroom you create has a class limit of 100. You have 2 options for setting up classrooms in GoGuardian for Teachers:

  1. Creating via GoGuardian
  2. Creating via Google Classroom


 

Creating via GoGuardian

To create a new classroom via GoGuardian:

  • Click on the Add Classroom button
  • Choose a name for your classroom
  • Add a description (optional)
  • Choose a color for the classroom
  • Click the Add Classroom button. 

Next, if you would like to schedule sessions automatically:

  • Select the start time
  • Select the end time (maximum of 7 hours per session)
  • Select the days of the week the session will occur
  • Click the Add Schedule button

Otherwise you can simply click the skip button and move ahead (you can always change these settings later). 

(Optional) If your classes begin at different times for different days of the week you may use advanced scheduling to set up your classroom. In order to do so:

  • Click on advanced scheduling
  • Select the day(s) you would like to enable
  • Select the time(s) you would like to enable (per day)
  • Click the Add Schedule button

Your classroom has now been created! Your new classroom will prompt you to add your students. For more information on that, see this link.

 


 

Creating via Google Classroom

If you already have classrooms set up with Google Classroom you may import your classrooms to GoGuardian seamlessly (Rosters will automatically update every hour).

To begin creating a new classroom via Google Classroom:

  • Click on the Add Classroom button 
  • Click Add from Google
  • Select Google Classroom to import

Next, if you would like to schedule sessions automatically:

  • Select the start time
  • Select the end time (maximum of 7 hours per session)
  • Select the days of the week the session will occur
  • Click the Add Schedule button

Otherwise you can simply click the skip button and move ahead (you can always change these settings later).

After creating your classroom you will be able to note which classrooms have been imported from Google by the G logo in the bottom right corner.
